It could be recalled that it has been over ten (10) days since the talented player went missing following the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey on February 6.

News about his death went viral on February 18, 2023, after it was revealed that his lifeless body has been found.

Christian Atsu Biography

Christian Atsu is a Ghanaian professional footballer. He was born on January 10, 1992, in Ada Foah, Ghana.

Atsu began his football career with Feyenoord Academy in Ghana before joining FC Porto’s youth academy in 2009. He made his professional debut for Porto B in 2010 and went on to make his first-team debut in 2011.

During his time at Porto, Atsu was loaned out to several clubs including Rio Ave, Vitesse, Everton, AFC Bournemouth, and Newcastle United. He had a successful loan spell with Vitesse in the Netherlands, where he scored five goals in 28 appearances during the 2012-13 season.

Atsu joined English Premier League club Chelsea in 2013, but he was immediately loaned out to Vitesse for the second time. He spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Vitesse, scoring five goals in 28 appearances.

In the following season, Atsu was loaned out to Everton, where he made 13 appearances but failed to score. He then went on to join Bournemouth on loan for the second half of the 2015-16 season, where he made two appearances.

Atsu joined Newcastle United on loan in August 2016, and he helped them win the Championship title in his first season at the club. He scored five goals and provided three assists in 32 appearances for the Magpies.

Newcastle signed Atsu permanently in May 2017, and he went on to make 35 appearances in his first season at the club. He scored two goals and provided three assists as the Magpies finished 10th in the Premier League.

Atsu continued to be a regular player for Newcastle in the following seasons, but he struggled for game time in the 2020-21 season, making only five appearances in all competitions.

In July 2021, Atsu left Newcastle and joined Turkish side, Hatayspor on a three-year contract.

At the international level, Atsu has been a regular member of the Ghana national team since 2012. He has represented his country at two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Off the pitch, Atsu is known for his philanthropic work. He established the Christian Atsu Foundation in 2011, which aims to improve the lives of underprivileged children in Ghana. The foundation has provided educational scholarships, medical care, and basic amenities to children in need.
